If you live in Southern California and saw a large, bright spotlight piercing the sky just south of downtown Los Angeles...it was probably the sub reflecting off the final coat of paint on 3751's sand dome.
Prepared by various members of the steam crew and fully painted by Chief Mechanical Officer (CMO) Bob Kittel, the sand dome has officially been completed and is ready for installation back on the locomotive. Closer to the time that the engine is lined up for an operation, the iconic "3751" numbers on both sides of the dome will be hand painted back on.
